Losing my furry daughter and best friend Lilly Foschino after 19 years living with each other like glue.

On July 29th, early morning of 2024, our 20-year-old daughter and angel #Lillyfoschino, passed away peacefully in my arms. She became weaker overnight and became unable to walk within hours on the last Sunday evening; she rejected food for the first time in her life. She ate exceptionally well through her youth, mature, and elderly phase, but things changed within hours last Sunday. As Lilly got weaker, Her dad and I laid her down in the bed and held her with her favorite blankets throughout the entire night, kissing and holding her. Lilly was breathing and making little barks and noises. At one point, I realized that she needed to know that it was ok if she wanted to leave us and that we would be ok. As I started praying and telling Lilly it was ok, the power went out of nowhere, and when the power came back, I noticed Lilly was departing her physical body. Afterward, her dad and I called the veterinarian who knew her and drove to the clinic, where they confirmed and discussed the arrangements after we spent a lot of time with our angel. Our physical time with Lilly could have been shorter and ended in 2009, and in 2013, due to food contamination, I later switched her diet to plant-based, which gave us more happy times together. But what really made the difference in Lilly’s life was how we perceived her, not as a dog, not as a pet, not as a companion, but as a family member as our daughter, and as our best friend. As my tears fell, I realized that Lilly had a higher purpose in my life and that she changed me and her dad forever. Her memory will live on through the blessings she left within us.
