Russia and Ukraine under my eyes one year after..(Part one)

  Russian Illegal Invasion in Ukraine  First, let me introduce myself to you. My name is Iara, and I recently turned 50 years old. I was born in Brazil and raised by artists in the field of Photography, visual arts, and acting. I grew up surrounded by Anti-USA sentiments from actors and writers who dealt with censorship and torture during the Brazilian dictatorship from 1964-1885. I spent part of my life as an exchange student in Idaho and returned to Brazil with more comprehensive insights based on my experiences. I realized that loving and trusting countries and languages can be ideological and seen as competitive market fields. Years passed, and on   February 2022, at 49 years old, living in New Jersey with my husband and furry kids, being deeply involved with justice for animals and climate justice activism, the illegal attack from Russia was the last thing on my mind. How my 19 years old dog daughter changed how I perceive animals, and how much I have learn about my self.

;">   This photo of Lilly and I were made in a studio by my mom while visiting Sao Paulo, it was for my dog accessory line on amazon and facebook, in 2009. I was 37 going on 38, and Lilly was 6 years old. It feels like we are aging together. Being Lilly’s bestie  all of this time, has taught me how people perceive animals. When I first brought Lilly home, some trought I purchased some and asked the price, but they were disappointed to find out that she was rescued with her mother by my cousin who is a vet. Lilly was in an old barn in the middle of nowhere in a serious hoarding condition. Others were annoyed with my relationshiep with Lilly, and claimed that people “like me “ just wanted to have a dog like lilly as a fashion accessory. People who see little dogs as accessories exist. It is heartbreaking when they realized they get older and need extra care and decide to drop them in an animal shelter.  Elderly dogs have a high rate of surrender and they are the ones who die wit
