Words of sadness over the Middle East and a parallel with xenophobia and confusion.
I feel a bit numb for not being able to ignore the horror in the Middle East, which is not about Israel versus Palestinians, and definitely not something to fuel the daily antisemitism tropes and Islamophobia fantasies. This is all about unimaginable pain from human beings on all sides. I am heartbroken for the youth, elderly, and babies who are held hostage, and brutally killed. No Jews, jews, and Palestinians from all over the world including from my birth country Brazil are enduring pure horror. Pain is pain, pain is not to be compared, and pain should never be ignored. I have been giving visibility to Brazil to address illiteracy by drawing resemblances to prejudices that lead to hate towards Jews and others. For instance, when I try to inform my circles in the US about Brazil, they cut me short and say, “ “Uh? “That is weird”! “Are there Jews and Palestinians in Brazil “?
